What is
special/unique about the school?
A particularly warm and welcoming school, with an
excellent record in getting the very best out of pupils with a wide range of
abilities. A huge range of extra-curricular activities and an outstanding new
Music Centre.
Description of EAL/EFL provision
There is an International Study Centre where
students receive intensive tuition in English before integrating into the
main curriculum. Costs as shown above.
EAL for students needing some additional help is
£665 per term or £42.50 per hourly tuition (individual) or £17.50 (shared).
Application
procedure for international students
All overseas applicants are asked to take the
school’s own tests in English, Maths and for younger pupils Non Verbal
Reasoning. In the first instance applicants should complete the Registration
Form found in the back of the Prospectus, or available from the Registrar,
and return it to the Registrar with registration fee of £75. The Registrar
will then send out the tests which should be completed under exam conditions
supervised by the agent or the student’s current school. The tests should be
returned to the Registrar for marking and on the basis of these the Head
Master will decide whether to offer a place. Some places may be conditional
on exam results in the student’s home country. The Registrar will send out an
offer letter with acceptance form and the student’s parents should complete
this and return it with deposit of £1000. This is returnable at the end of
the student’s school career, less any expenses incurred.
School Profile
Kent
College расположен в сельской местности на окраине исторического города Кантербери.
Треть учеников колледжа occupies an idyllic semi-rural site overlooking the historic city
of Canterbury.
There is easy access to London and its
airports, and also to continental Europe.
It is renowned as a particularly friendly and
welcoming school, with first class pastoral care. Two thirds of pupils are
local children and some 30 countries are represented in our boarding
community. There are two boarding houses for boys and two for girls, and
recent investment has brought accommodation up to an exceptional standard.
Academic results are excellent with a 99.2% pass
rate at A-Level in 2007. We send several students to Oxford
and Cambridge each year and many of our
overseas pupils go on to prestigious London University
colleges.
A particular strength is the School’s International
Study Centre. Here pupils whose English needs improvement can receive
specialist tuition in small groups and integrate into the main curriculum at
a pace which meets their individual needs.
There is a huge range of sporting and cultural
activities and a special weekend events programme for boarders. We believe
our new Music Centre offers the best facilities of any school in the south of
England.
We even have our own farm.
Kent College
– a challenging yet unfailingly supportive school offering a superb all-round
education to pupils from around the world.
