Presentation of the scientific-pedagogical project “Intellect of Ukraine”
Dear colleagues,
We are the team of the scientific-pedagogical project “Intellect of Ukraine” (hereinafter referred to as the Project), and we are looking for up to four partner schools in English-speaking countries who are willing to try out our new approach. For classes utilizing our approach, we have seen a significant improvement in student’s proficiency across all subjects, compared to schools with traditional education (see Appendix 1 for details). We’re providing more information about our project, approach, scientists behind it and the results we’ve achieved for students who completed full 11 years of education with the Project further in this letter.
Right now, we are expanding our program to English-speaking countries and are testing an English version of the program. Hence, we are looking for up to four schools who would designate one or two classes to study with the program. For these experimental classes, all textbooks, materials, and teacher training as well as all expenses related to the implementation of the program will be covered by us.
For schools that are willing to participate in the experiment we are organizing a seminar where they can see the Project in action and get familiar with the new English version of it. Please see details about the seminar below. We will cover all the expenses for a few representatives of each school and the ministry of education.
We are confident that our partnership will contribute to improving the quality of school education and will allow us to bring to life the Project’s motto: “happy and successful child, teacher and family.”
With the kindest regards and a hope for cooperation,
Project Supervisor,
Professor Doctor Irina Gavrysh.
About the Project
Our team has developed the educational technology “The Intellect of Ukraine” and educational and methodological kits for its implementation. It has passed the eleven-year successful testing in 725 schools in all the regions of Ukraine. Its effectiveness is evidenced, in particular, by the results of External Independent Testing (EIT) of graduates of our schools (appendix 1). For reference: EIT in Ukraine is a compulsory procedure aimed at determining the level of knowledge of school graduates. In accordance with the results of the testing the competitive selection of future students to higher education institutions of Ukraine is carried out.
In the 2018-2019 academic year, the team created the English version of the Project called “National Intellect”. We set up its experimental testing at Kindergarten Global Outreach Charter Academy No. 122 in Jacksonville, Florida, USA.
About the seminar
In order to create the conditions for teachers in English-speaking countries to make an informed decision on the usefulness of experimental testing of the “National Intellect” project we will give a seminar “Education in the scientific-pedagogical project ‘The Intellect of Ukraine’.”
The seminar will be held on April 13th through April 17th 2020 at Kharkiv gymnasium No. 169 in Kharkiv, Ukraine. The participants will attend lessons in the Project classes, which will be accompanied by simultaneous translation, get acquainted with its English version (“National Intellect”), learn about the methodical foundations of our educational technology and methodology of training for teachers of the Project classes, and discuss the draft program of the cooperation project with partner schools in 2020-2021 (appendix 2).
The representatives of educational authorities and school managers from English-speaking countries are invited to participate in the seminar. We will cover travel, accommodation, and meal expenses.
About the team
The Project team includes more than 60 scientists (doctors and PhDs in pedagogy, psychology, and medicine), experienced education managers, methodologists, and teachers.
The Project supervisor is Prof. Doctor of Pedagogy Irina Gavrysh, professor at H. S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University.
The introduction of the educational technology is carried out under the supervision of a medical and psychological support group, which is headed by director of the Institute for Children and Adolescents Health Care at the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Professor, Doctor MD Heorhii Danylenko.
The goal of the Project is to educate the intellectual elite of the nation. The conceptual idea is a Singaporean educational miracle without “Singaporean stresses”.
The team created a system of innovative techniques that allow:
-
To ensure a high level of learning by the vast majority of students of basic educational units in all school subjects through the application of the technology of complete learning of educational material based on the conventional method, the theory of phased and planned formation of mental actions by P. Halperin and N. Talyzin, and the method of savings by G. Ebbinghaus. The technology of complete learning involves the use of knowledge and intelligence cards.
-
To implement the main ideas of STEM-education which is the leading trend in the modernization of educational systems in highly developed countries. Within the educational program “The Intellect of Ukraine" primary school students (grades 1-4) study in depth natural sciences and mathematical subjects, learn to make their own scientific and technical discoveries, in particular to set contradictions and find ways to overcome them, make hypotheses and experimentally test them (school subjects “Eureka”, “Natural sciences. Your physical and chemical discoveries”, “Environmental Studies. My planet Earth”). This work continues at the system level in the secondary (grades 5–9) and high schools (grades 10–11) in the process of studying Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Geography.
-
To develop students’ memory, attention, imagination, intelligence, critical and creative thinking, as well as to form the ability to learn through systematic work on the development of students’ cognitive processes and rational reading skills (technical skills for quick reading and the ability to work with scientific and educational information; the subject “Learning Together” and all other school subjects).
-
To develop positive thinking and emotional intelligence of students through the technology of forming positive thinking and emotional intelligence (the subject “Learning Together” and all other school subjects).
